How I handle what you send.

Who I am

Roots & Ratios is operated by Mario Aguilar, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

For questions about your data or to exercise your rights, contact me through the form on this website.

What I collect

I may collect your name and email address, your child's first name, age and grade level, your city, your answers to the enquiry form, and the language in which you were viewing the form.

Why I use your data

I use this information to respond to your enquiry, understand your tutoring needs, prepare programme options, and arrange a call or diagnostic session.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

I do not use your enquiry data for marketing or sell it. I only share it with the service providers described below or where required by law.

Service providers

Formspree receives and processes form submissions and forwards them to me by email. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, appropriate safeguards are used as described in Formspree's privacy documentation.

Google Fonts may receive your IP address and other technical information when your browser requests a font.

How long I keep your data

If you do not enrol, I delete your enquiry data within 12 months of your last communication with me.

If you enrol, I keep relevant records for the duration of your tutoring relationship and for 12 months after it ends. After that, the data is deleted unless I am legally required to retain it for longer.

Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, or object to certain processing. Where applicable, you may also request data portability.

You can exercise your rights through the form on this website.

You also have the right to complain to Portugal's data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD): cnpd.pt.

Children's data

Enquiries must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. I collect only the child information reasonably necessary to assess their needs and place them in an appropriate programme.
